4 x 4 Color Test Palette

Print more colors! If you have a way to print more than one color, you have a way to print even more. With my Mosaic Palette I currently can control the printing of 4 colors at a time. By layering the filaments, I can create more colors for flat prints or top surfaces. I used Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and White. Experiment with different settings and colors! Please post your makes to share results. This "Grid Style" model has four parts. I designated each part for one color and set up two processes per model. (Eight processes total in Simplify3D.) The bottom layers are solid and the top layers are infill only. Align the model origins for all four pieces to create a grid that will show all 16 combinations possible with four colors: each possible bottom with each possible top. Note that the diagonal will have "pure" colors since the bottoms and tops are the same. The models are 1 mm thick. I printed with 0.25 mm layer heights with either one or two layers on the top as infill. For the Happy Birthday Sign shown in the photos, I used three solid bottom layers and the top layer is 50% infill following the direction of the previous layer. Also shown is this 4 x 4 Color Test Palette printed with 50% infill on two top layers attempting to create a grid-like dithering pattern. I found that the top colors dominated too much and I preferred the better blending of the single layer. See my 5/18/2021 Twitter post and my Happy Birthday Sign on Cults! Bonus! I also included my "Sunset Style" models. Originally I tried the dithering look with shades attempting to mimic a sunset gradient. These models are horizonal bars with the idea that the colors shift layers from bottom to top to solid and so on with neighboring colors. The results were interesting, but would have been better with more translucent filaments. These prints led me to the idea of seeing all 16 combinations and the Grid Style models.
