4 Way Wet Diverter for Aquaponics or Hydroponics
thingiverse
This indexing hydroponic/aquaponic diverter works with 1" PVC pipe systems. It utilizes a single circulation pump that returns water to the tank while relying on gravity for overflow distribution to four grow beds. A 1" high-flow pump drives the setup, enabling two overflow feeds and an emergency backup in case of system congestion. The rod is attached to a stepper motor via a coupler and controlled by Arduino water level sensors per bed; when a sensor detects a full tub, the stepper advances to the next index. Magnetic location detection ensures accurate positioning. Code for diverter operation is available here: https://github.com/ooeygui/aquaponics/blob/master/Diverter/Diverter.ino. Note that this project requires MCAD scad extension and external files. Recent updates include an indexing plate, a roller switch model, and plans for the drive axle coupler and mount. A PVC pipe-mounted motor clamp is also in development. On 11/28, significant refactoring occurred, including a Nema17 stepper downsize, integrated stepper motor mount into the inlet, and a bolt-attached diverter cap to the bell.
