Made this contraption to hang under my monitor, perfect for holding 4 USB extension cables at bay. Not sure how it'll work with every type of extension cable out there, but mine snugged up nice and tight, so no extra tightening mechanism was required. It's a deceptively simple setup that actually does the job surprisingly well.
