The North Nave Transept of Rochester Cathedral served as the main entryway for medieval pilgrims and was once home to the Jesus Chapel and St. Ursula's Chapel. This area showcases some of the cathedral's most impressive human corbels and label stops. John Hope, in his 1898 publication (247), proposed that the north transept was finished around 1255. However, Alexander argued in 2006 (162) that architectural evidence points to a completion date of approximately 1240 for both the north and south nave transepts, built by different masons with no significant pause in construction. Today, the north half of the transept, which was previously used as a baptistry, houses a fresco created by Russian iconographer Sergei Fyodorov in 2004. Bibliography
