4-Screw Filament Runout Sensor Mount for Ender-3 v2 with Direct Drive
cults3d
This is a Filament Runout Sensor (FRS) mount for a sensor that uses 4 screws. I designed this for my Ender-3 v2 with the Creality Titan Direct Drive using TinkerCAD, https://www.tinkercad.com/things/jnTaDbgEz4M . I was inspired by the Creality CR-10 Smart Pro FRS mount. My original design did not swivel and caused binding with the filament when printing above 100mm Z-Axis. In my first swivel mount design, the face had issues and kept coming undone since it was friction held into the bearing. This design has resolved all my previous issues. To assemble, you will just need: • (2) 608RS bearings (8mm x 22mm x 7 mm) • (2) M4x12mm screws with (2) M4 T-Nuts You may need to taper the holes on the face to allow you to start threading the FRS screws into the plastic along with cleaning up the holes of the base with a small drill bit, depending on how calibrated your printer is. Insert the front and rear bearing evenly. Be careful, and gently push the face post through both the front and rear bearing. If you have issues with it falling out, I created it to take a screw and washer from the backside. I haven't needed to do this myself. Here is a link to a video demonstrating the swivel: https://youtube.com/shorts/fRW9Byw77dk?feature=share Updated - 2022.08.06 • I added a v7 base and face mount that blends the u-grove extruder bearings with the swivel head. • This base has been extended outwards so it is in better alignment with my Titan Direct Drive Updated - 2022.08.04 I added a v5 without the swivel and added (2 pcs)13mm u-groove extruder bearings and (2 pcs) of M3x6mm standoffs to better guide the filament • https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RN8MF9F - Extruder bearings Updated - 2022.05.21 • Uploaded a new base, version 4. I had an issue with the previous when printing at max height and my direct-drive stepper motor hit the bottom of the mount and I couldn't go any higher. This offsets the mount's face backward by 4.5mm. • Renames the Base files to remove the "4-screw" from the title.
