4" Pyramid Post Cap

4" Pyramid Post Cap

We use our raised patio deck to keep our indoor cat happy thinking he is going outside. But, he started to jump up on the flat posts and we were worried he could slip and fall over the other side. So, I created these post tops (pretty much modeled after ones I saw for sale online for crazy price), printed them out and it immediately solved the problem. For others though, you may just want a decorative post top. These should fit 4" post tops. I included a picture of the original top which you must unscrew and remove since these actually completely take their place. I used the original set screw that came with the original caps. If you don't have any caps (like you are putting these on some wood posts), any set screw should work.Note that although I tightened these fairly tight, if you tighten too much it will slightly bend the cap out on the side. Maybe a denser infill would prevent that, but personally I think if it is getting to that point you are probably tightening it too much. You MUST use PETG or any filament that can withstand both UV and high temperature direct sunlight. If you use PLA it won't work out. It will warp in the sun and fade quickly over time. You've been warned...I didn't use a brim, rafts or supports. I DID use ironing for the top and did no post processing. They came out great.
