4" PVC Pipe Bird House Door

There are some wooden birdhouses that look great, but after only a year or two, they start to rot and fall apart. They get cleaned out each fall and stored indoors every winter, but wood just isn't very durable, and birdhouses take a beating inside and out. While doing some research, I found this design that uses PVC pipe for most of the house. However, the ends and perch are still made of wood. You could use composite lumber instead, but it's hard to cut a perfect 4-inch plug, and you've probably never seen a composite dowel. Instead, I designed a door with several key features: easy alignment and insertion into a 4-inch pipe cut at an angle, ease of gluing or screwing into place, a reinforced perch because things that stick out tend to get broken, a tapered lip for water and debris drainage, and simplicity in printing without supports.
