4 Leg Shooting Stick
thingiverse
Thanks to AlucardWulf for the initial design. Printed and tested during hunting in African bushveld. Broke the top hinge after stalking the Impala. Used the bottom hinges as inspiration for the redesign. Hinges:The top hinge is now also a double tie-down. The Rest itself has enough material to be sturdy at the hinge. Did not yet do a remix of the bottom hinges as they seem to be stronger.NOTE:For the top hinge, there are 2 designs. V1 is my original. V2 us still under review. V2 was an attempt to try and get the outer profile looking better than the rounded hinge since it prints funny on the outer portion.Rest:Also tried to counter-sunk the hinge in the rest as to not protrude too much. Only bolt/nut standing out. That can be corrected with using low profile bolt/nut. The Front rest has been made wider. This helps if you are aiming at the target/animal and it moves slightly. Leaving the stick in place, you can just move the rifle on the front rest. I also added a thin strip of rubber on the top portion of the front rest to help with gripping the rifle and providing more stability (not shown in photo)Printing:Print all items flat on the bed. It helps with strength of the components at the hinge area but can break is inserting a rod/pole into the hinge that is too tight. For the rest, you will have to use support for the hinge portion (at least in my case).Material:I settled on PETG to provide a bit more movement in a part before it breaks. PLA is string but snaps instead of deforming. In the veld, snapping is a big problem and will render the stick useless.Layer:0.2mm worked for me
