4 inch Caliper holster
thingiverse
Update: I recently ordered another one of these compact calipers because I find their small size incredibly handy. The new model arrived with a proper case, which was a welcome change from my first purchase that came in a flimsy plastic bag. While you may not need this accessory, it proved essential for storing and transporting my initial purchase. I have been using a 4" digital caliper, available on Amazon, which has proven to be an indispensable tool in my daily activities. However, its battery compartment tends to open easily, and inadvertently pressing the buttons can activate the device. Additionally, some of the edges are quite sharp, making it necessary to develop a protective case. To address these issues, I created a custom holster using Onshape's CAD modeling software. The design is based on a photo copy of the caliper's backside, which you can access here: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/00f9abf69a74e76dbdd555cb/w/82e7aaad148931e734bc9aa5/e/9638452abc36aa46c91caa7b. To facilitate printing, I split the model into two separate pieces to eliminate the need for support material. To print this accessory, I recommend using a LulzBot Mini printer with the following settings: * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.4mm * Infill: 20% After printing, simply glue the two pieces together using super glue. A helpful tip is to apply the glue, press the halves together, and then hold them under running cool water. I chose a bright orange PLA for this project to ensure it stands out in my backpack or laptop bag.
