4" Egg Speaker
thingiverse
These speaker enclosures are designed for general 4" speakers, but the ring cover is specifically made to fit the Sioux CS 100 PRO speakers. If you can't get your hands on the CS 100 PRO, you'll have to make some adjustments to fit another type of speaker and share or link it so we can create these enclosures for all kinds of speakers. You can also choose to omit the ring if you prefer. Speaker hole size: 94 mm / 3.7 in Cabinet Volume: approximately 3.5 L / 0.123 ft3 Bass Port: 55.5 x 40.5 mm / 2.18 x 1.59 in - Depth 100 mm / 3.93 in Your printer will need to have a minimum build area of 200x170x250mm. The Cura profile I use is included, and you can adjust the layer height for better detail or change the line width to match your nozzle. I use a 0.6mm nozzle and set it to 0.65 for the 4". For smaller nozzles, such as 0.4mm, you should use around 0.4mm line width. To get the best results, set "Z Seam Alignment" to the center of your bed's X and Y behind the Egg. There are currently two models available: the first is a square version, and the second is a medium poly version. A high poly version is in the works. I print the rings on heated glass for optimal results without using glue, but I do need brim to keep warp down. The small piece of 10mm foam goes into the top and gets held in place between the top and bass port. It just needs to cover the wall behind the port to minimize midrange escaping out the port. Speakers need to have their crossovers upgraded for better sound quality. They're okay as is (without the stock grill), but they get a lot better with just adding a coil, which requires removing the treble. To do this: Remove the Sioux "cap" on the back of the speaker. Un-solder the wires. Unscrew the treble. With the treble out, you can remove the 4.7uF capacitor and bridge the terminals with wire where the capacitor was connected. Remember to reverse polarity on the treble! Glue down the capacitor and coil with hot glue on the back of the speaker. The grill fits Sioux speakers and replaces the metal grill that ruins the highs by restricting too much airflow. You can omit the grill if you prefer, but it's included for keeping small fingers away. The grill pops off easily, so add a dab of glue if needed. To remove the stock grill: Crush it a little with Polygrip pliers and pull it off. Be careful not to bash in the treble or scratch the plastic. Do this last in the build process. The feet are printed in Ninjaflex. Foam pad needed now is smaller and has to be placed under port opening in the bottom of the egg. New model comes with less support, but you will have to use support blocker as pictures show (blue = block support). 2018/12: Updated design to fit Ender 3 printer build volume (medium poly only now) 2018/09: Added a rod in the top that connects bassport with top of egg reducing resonance and removes the need for support in the top
