4" dryer vent bypass

4" dryer vent bypass

thingiverse

I designed a bypass for a 4-inch duct to divert humid air from the electric clothes dryer in my house during winter and redirect it outside during summer. The "outlet" threads are reversed so that both ends can be taped securely and the box unthreaded for easy cleaning or repair if needed. This is definitely a work-in-progress design, and threading the threads requires some effort. There are small spots on the corners of the "flapper" where magnets (1mm thick by 3mm diameter) can be inserted. Corresponding spots in the open and closed positions of the box allow for additional magnets to be placed. I've included the Fusion360 files as well, so you can modify them for your own use if desired. Please note that this design comes with risks. Using the wrong materials in high-temperature environments can lead to fires. Additionally, inhaling cotton fibers can be hazardous to your health.
