The 22.4m diameter Control Feed Silo contains three days' worth of raw mill product, which is then released via its seven pressure relieving cones that open sequentially in groups of three. Air-rated for proper mixing, this silo is below a deck slab with an additional air mixing chamber called the mixing bin, supported on load cells. Material from the bin passes through schenk feeders to control flow and then moves via bucket elevators (with one standby) into the preheater system. The Air slides split into two strings, with bottom outlets that recirculate back into the silo.
