4-8 Way Switchable Sanwa Joystick Restrictor Plate
thingiverse
This is a versatile 4-8 way switchable arcade joystick restrictor plate designed specifically for Sanwa style arcade sticks, enabling users to play various arcade games requiring either a 4 or 8-way joystick on the same machine by simply rotating the restrictor disk inside the chassis. This model prints in four parts and allows users to switch between 4 and 8-way mode from the top of the cabinet with ease. To assemble this restrictor plate, the user must first insert the restrictor disk into the chassis. Next, small magnets can be inserted and glued into the chassis, ensuring that both magnets have the same polarity direction. The magnetic slot is then inserted into the slot on the restrictor disk, and a third magnet is glued into it. Once assembled, this assembly should snap back and forth between 4 and 8-way mode. This restrictor plate can be installed on the joystick as normal, with the turn key snapped onto the shaft of the joystick just under the retention washer but on top of the spring cover. Some glue may be required to secure it in place. Once all parts are assembled, the restrictor plate mode can be changed by pulling up on the top of the joystick shaft and rotating it until the restrictor snaps into the desired mode. The magnets used for this project were sourced from Amazon, but any 6x3mm magnets should work: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B077K364Z7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. The parts were printed on the Prusa i3 mk3s in black PETG, with all parts printed at .2mm layer height except for the turn key, which was printed at .15mm.
