4.5 in Vise soft jaws
thingiverse
I've been itching for soft jaws to go along with my 4.5 inch Bessey bench vise from Home Depot, so I finally put them into production mode myself. If you're not aware of what soft jaws are, they provide a protective layer against damage to the object being worked on in the vise by using a softer clamping mechanism. By the way, after producing my initial batch, I mistakenly printed 2 identical parts without realizing that mirroring one would have perfectly aligned the "X" grip pattern. I'll revisit the design when possible and modify it to create symmetrical pattern for easier maintenance, then post updates on this modification soon. Update: A revised soft jaws template for securely holding rounded objects with a perfectly aligned grip has been developed. Print Settings: Rafts: None Supports: No need Resolution: High resolution set at 200 Infill: Set at a moderate level of 50% Notes: I may adjust the infill level to higher percentages if necessary.
