Less than a fifth of the population escaped as the city was levelled and consumed by fire. The bombardment also disrupted the water supply, making their barren homeland even harder to survive in. In the aftermath of this disaster, two different factions emerged - The Blessed and The Engineers. The Blessed believed the Great Burning was a sign that they should live in harmony with the desert, working in tandem with nature from now on. They leaned into old traditions, reviving the ancient art of Beast Taming which uses the young larva of the mighty Dust Stalkers to locate water sources. The adults are then used for transportation and protection, revered as sacred beasts. Adeleka leads the spiritual faction, with Kasiya the Beast Tamer as her second. The core role of the Beast Tamer is to work with the larval stage of the Dust Stalkers. The Dust Stalker is a mighty creature, towering high above even the largest man-made desert structures. By taming it's young, they can be used to reliably locate water sources as they shift with the seasons. It also means the adult Stalkers won't be dangerous and can actually be used for transporting goods. Kasiya has been a Beast Tamer all her life and can now recognise the emotions and needs of the Water Seekers (larval Dust Stalkers) in her care. She feels more at peace with these giant insects than she does with people!  However, she also had a huge amount of respect for Adeleka and will do anythig to protect her, weilding her taming whip as a weapon if needed! _________________________________________________ Kasiya is part of the Dimozian Sands collection, which was first available on our Patreon channel in June 2021.
