3uP Power Jack & Switch Box
thingiverse
I designed a compact enclosure with an interchangeable power jack and 2 switch outlets for my bespoke 3uP printer project. The components I salvaged came from decommissioned PC power supplies littering my workspace. One of these switches governs the main power source, while the other permits selective shutdown of the LED lighting strip to preserve battery life during non-operational periods. For optimal integration with diverse power jack designs, the enclosure design does not include pre-drilled mounting holes for these components; users will need to create them accordingly using a drill press. Visible side apertures offer convenient points for securing this housing onto side rail frameworks while also granting hands-free access to hidden hex bolts that hold everything in place. I purposefully fashioned a secure fit at the rear compartment so that it's simply retained by natural friction, negating any need for glue or other bonding materials - a design decision made to ensure effortless re-wiring or maintenance access in case issues arise down the line. The project remains incomplete until users can share back changes needed to improve functionality and usability of this open source device, bringing our shared 3uP printing experience full circle!
