3uP 3D Printer Cable Chain System
thingiverse
This is a custom cable chain system that I designed for the 3uP 3D printer. It employs chain sourced from Thingiverse - there's no point reinventing the wheel, after all! - paired with custom end plates that I crafted. Its design enables it to mount securely on the back right side of the printer and directly onto the X Slider, which features mounting holes found in the 3uP v1.3.1 and newer models. During development, I tested various mounting points, but ultimately chose the one that allows the chain to operate smoothly without getting stuck or binding up. To replicate this design, you'll need 38-40 chain links as well as a pair of end plates. It's crucial to feed your wires through the largest connector first; I had to detach the connector from the hot end's wires temporarily, but reattaching it was easy and straightforward. For seamless operation, I recommend feeding in small sections of chain, roughly 5-8 links at a time, allowing you to snap them together without issue. This project is still evolving, so any comments or suggestions are welcome - please don't hesitate to share your ideas!
