3UDC refers to the profile of the display clip and socket system. Anything with 3UDC should fit together. In this system tolerances are built into the socket so that you can expect anything people design to fit.

The 3UDC clips have 4 print orientations that allow them to be printed with no supports.

The sockets print well standing up or on their face. Printed on the flat side the socket will work for a lot of printer with good PLA bridging attributes. Ether add a center of support or pick a socket with larger tolerances for printing on the side.

For those that want design thing using the 3UDC clip and socket, please visit the developers library for parts and technical information.

Other Libraries using the 3UDC socket in its offering:

156DT Display Tree Library (tower Parts)

3UDC Accessory Library (this Library)

PrusaPrinters COLLECTION Library of KitCard Platforms (kitcard Platforms)

Thingiverse COLLECTION Library of KitCard Platforms (kitcard Platforms)

3UDC and 155DT Developers Library (Connectors you can add to things)

Kit Card Tree Parts and the 3UDC pivot platform (kit card tree parts and Swivel)

Items in this LIbrary

Look at the illustration showing the initial parts in the library. Items include:

3UDC Extensions, straight and with turns

Table Stand (socket prints on its side, consider starting with the +1 tolerance if you are not using support).

Hooks

surface and wall Sockets

Makeup and utility Cups

Earing Hangers

Please note that the 360 degree pivot arm is in the KITCARD parts library so I don't have to maintain them in two places.

So many more things to be made or changed:

The earing plats should swing so you can get behind them.

Snap in cups with tapered floors to get things out

… all the great things people think of.

Mounting the clip considerations:

The clip is flexible, but the external clip requires space to the top and the right of the clip. If you mount the clip on a left surface you would need to mount it out on a bridge if you want to use a side clip.

Tolerances and Extensions

The sockets have a generous .4mm tolerance added to the hole. This is accounted for in the clip placement since it is outside. When using an extension the tolerance is amplified. For UPRIGHT EXTENSION PRINTS, consider an extension with a - 1 tolerance. Find those labelled 3UDCT-1.

Double Sided tape and the mounts

I am a big users of double sided foam tape. The PLA has been resistant of holding. Wiping the mount surface with Acetone helped. For better mounting performance ether use a 3M high strength double sided tape, or rendering a larger plate may help. All the plates I rendered have screw holes.

Keep in mind by design we are suspending things off the clip at some distance. This creates a lever affect which can challenge double sided tapes to hold fast.

Insert the clip until it clicks.

If you leave a clip on the ramp, the plastic will bend and no longer clip. Momentarily heating the clip can allow you to bend it back.

Create your own

Visit the Developers library where you can find just the clips and parts needed to attach to something you want to hang. Merge them in your slicer or in your designer.

Credits:

The dimensions for the hanging earrings are from Ryan Millar's wall unit at https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/84458

Are there other sizes?

I have a 5UDC that I will be publishing. It actually works well and have used it for some heavier long extensions. I also have a 5UDC to 3UDC adapter.
