3rd stage custom door wedge for cage
thingiverse
So I started conceptualizing this project on my Facebook page, where I uploaded images of the measurements and sketches I had created to illustrate what I envisioned. I began by taking precise measurements of the cage door's size and how far it protruded when fully extended and level, then replicated the process for the side of the cage, measuring from the bottom of the door to the lowest point of the bars (where the bars intersected with the plastic base of the cage). Next, I headed over to 123D Design and created basic shapes while matching them as closely as possible to my design and measurements. Once complete, it was on to the 3D printer for a test print to see how it turned out. This wedge I designed is suitable for a large 77 x 47 x 58 cm cage that accommodates my two rats, featuring bar spacing of 1cm and a door on the side measuring 19cm tall by 18cm wide. I'll be uploading three stages of this project, each customizable for scaling and design to fit your specific space needs.
