In my trusty Sakura D4 AWD, I decided it was time to try out another RC and gyro without dismantling the one I already had. With the servo, ESC, and battery hogging all the space in the lower deck, and a belt taking up valuable real estate on the upper deck, there just wasn't enough room to fit anything else. So, I set out to design this custom base from scratch. To get started, you'll need the following parts: - 2 M4 x 40 screws - 4 M4 nuts - 6 M4 washers - 2 M5 washers Don't bother printing the top-bottom file - it's just a visual aid to show how the components come together. What you do need to print are the top and bottom parts of this custom base. Here's how to install it: First, take your screws and attach an M4 washer to each one. Hold them upside down and let the washer drop onto the screw head. Next, insert these modified screws into the middle holes on the upper deck (as shown in the pictures). Then, place the bottom part of the base onto the screws and secure it with an M4 washer and a nut for each screw. Once that's done, simply attach the top part to the screws. To do this, you'll need to secure it with an M5 washer, followed by an M4 washer, and finally, a nut for each screw (you might not need both washers). After that, apply some double-sided tape on top and mount your receivers, gyros, or any other components you like. To my surprise, this custom base turned out to be incredibly stable and very convenient to use. However, there is one thing to keep in mind: the heads of the screws do decrease the battery compartment's height by about 4mm (from 29 to 25mm). This might mean that some batteries won't fit at all, while others will need extra care when installing or removing them. So, have fun experimenting with your new custom base!
