3ME - 99mm/10mm Reinforcing Ring for Estes Saturn V
cults3d
This is my first attempt at creating something and in doing so familiarizing myself with the various tools for building something like a model rocket as well as creating upgrades for my printer. Being new to Fusion 360, Thingiverse, Ender 3 printing, etc., I decided to practice a little by making this relatively easy item. This is a reinforcing ring for the 101mm diameter main body tube of the Estes Saturn V, kit number 2001 (released around late 1990s). This reinforcing ring measures 99mm outside diameter, 89mm inside diameter and is 10mm in height. It has an ever-so-slight flange at one end that can be sanded out but if kept can help keep the ring from dropping down into the body tube if used as an end piece at either end of the body tube. Future versions will have more detailed parts including provisions for blind nuts so that fasteners such as machine screws can be installed to hold the ring in place. This one, if used would need to be cemented in place. My original intent for making this reinforcing ring was to help hold the body tube in shape and round in preparation for laying up a strengthening material on the outside of the tube. By incorporating a number of these rings spaced evenly along the inside of the tube, if even temporarily, it would insure the roundness of the finished product. Later on, I possibly would remove these rings. Tell me what you think.and let me know if I can better describe this Thing.
