3M Face Mask - DAR filter adapter [v4]

Adapter piece for standard 3M half-face mask (6000, 7000 and FF-400 series masks, eg. popular 6200) to DAR viral/bacterial filters commonly found in hospitals. UPDATE 05-04-2020: v4 introduces model markings on the adapter - based on feedback we've found different 3M versions & clones have slightly different adapter dimensions. Please use proper version to ensure a tight fit. * DAR filter slot is now compliant with ISO 5356-1:2015 * Other adapter versions will be uploaded once verified (hopefully today) UPDATE 03-04-2020: v3 introduces support-free printing, side designation (R & L) and tighter fit for DAR filter according to ISO guidelines. This is a revised version of a project circulating on the internet for days, aiming to solve issues present in original design: 1. Rectangular, asymmetric design for easier handling when coupling/decoupling with mask. 2. Shape of adapter offers instant visual feedback of correct placement - former cylindrical versions offer little to none, resulting in improper coupling and accidental disconnections. 3. The filter has been directed towards the back and sides, offering several advantages: * a. Air inlet has been directed away from patient side, not towards it * b. Upwards air inlet position is much closer to intended use as described by manufacturer's product specification * c. Re-positioning of filter allows for greater freedom of movement when face shield is used 4. Wider flange offers extra seal around adapter-mask interface, missing from original design. 5. Filter piece is inserted in a way that even accidental removal of cap from filter's luer-lock port does not expose user to unfiltered air. Second filter can be replaced with simple cap (will be soon added to files) to reduce filter use - breathing is comfortable with even one filter. Please note that mask itself **does not provide any filtration of exhaled air!** It is only intended to *protect healthy individuals*, eg. healthcare workers WARNING! This adapter might not be suitable for use with generic, off-brand clones of the mask (eg. Sikko) - please test adapter-mask fit and make sure it fits snugly enough to not get disengaged accidentally. I will upload a Sikko revision after some additional testing. This design would benefit from proper and rigorous testing to determine quality of seal, and maximum holding pressure - please contact me if you're interested in helping out. This adapter was created as an emergency action in effort to protect people by providing backup options if standard PPE becomes unavailable. This device has not gone through same regulatory approval process as standard PPE. **Use at your own risk**. Make sure to follow your local guidelines.
