I will start working on the steering system soon! Update 07/01: I'm back at it, just taking a break to recharge! The steering system is almost done! I'll be back to this project very soon. Needed to remake many parts in a different 3D modeling software and that gets tedious quickly!
3Drift
I present to you a DIY RC drift car, the 3Drift, built from scratch. All parts are modeled and designed by me. Inspired by many different part designs from various rc cars. =========================== DISCLAIMER this is a WIP! If you're looking for a polished and well-handling 3D printed RC drift car, this isn't the one (yet). This is not fully complete, currently working on redesigning the suspension. Some parts may require slight redesigns to suit your needs. It will be updated as problems are found. ===========================
About
I wanted to buy an RC drift car for a long time, then I discovered some 3D printed designs, but the problem was all of them required buying parts from many different places, and used parts from various cars, and hardware that all needed to be bought separately. This car uses only HSP parts, all of which can be bought from one place (AliExpress). It uses generic bolts and screws found at hardware stores. You will need a drivetrain, which can be bought at your local RC shop, depending on your budget, as these are pretty universal rc parts. ===========================
Drivetrain
Any 540 brushed/brushless motor An ESC that goes with the motor Medium-high speed standard size servo A Lipo battery that suits your motor and esc Any RC car receiver/transmitter A gyro is recommended! As for wheels, you can use any 1/10 scale drift rims and tires, but I have modeled these custom rims here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4279969. ===========================
Parts
I am still using a few parts that are not 3D printed (Hubs, some steering components and rear diff casing). Currently working on these parts. Parts list: Diff HSP 02024 Driveshaft HSP 08061 Shocks 75mm adjustable 1/10 shocks Hubs HSP 94111 94123 94107 94108 Steering HSP 02025 02075 Steering linkage HSP 06016 Axles HSP 02033 the rest will be added soon! Hardware: Bolts: M3x15mm, M3x20mm, M3x30mm, M3 nuts Screws: M3x15 2.5mm nails cut up and used as shafts for the lower control arms (friction fit) ===========================
Updates
Update #1: Thinned down front LCA's designed, to allow for more angle. Update #2: Front and rear hubs are designed, another part to be tested. Update #3: Have started redesigning the entire steering system. Update #4: Have removed the STL's to parts I am currently redesigning. Update #5: After a short break, I got the new suspension system printed and installed. Steering system is next.
