3DRC RC Jet Boat Prototype
cults3d
A fully 3D printed RC jet boat is now possible thanks to this design. It requires a range of components including a 9g servo, motor, ESC, receiver and 2-3s lipo battery. Additionally, you will need m3x12 bolts, m3x6 set screws, a 3mm stainless steel shaft, and a 3x10x4 sealed bearing to complete the project. Please be aware that this design is protected by license and cannot be distributed without proper credit or used for commercial purposes. The main hull and mechanical parts can be printed in any material of your choice. I personally used PLA and PETG for the impeller, but you may choose a different material if you prefer. However, it's essential to note that seals and rubber washers must be printed in TPU or another flexible filament to ensure proper function. A small quantity of TPU is required for this project, so a 10M sample from a reputable supplier like rigid.ink will be sufficient if you don't have access to a full spool of the material. This design has been optimized for low-end 3D printers and can be assembled without any glue or adhesives. All parts can be printed at a resolution of 0.3mm, but I recommend using 0.2mm for better quality results. To minimize weight while maintaining strength, print all hull components with a low infill setting and three shells. You won't need to add supports if you print the parts in the correct orientations. Two different nozzle sizes are included: 10mm and 14mm. I personally prefer the 14mm nozzle for this project, but you may find that a higher top speed is achievable with the 10mm nozzle. To avoid damaging the parts during assembly, I recommend tapping all holes before bolting them together. This will ensure a secure and reliable connection between the components.
