3DPRINTINGWORLD Collapsing Lightsaber (Removable Blade)
pinshape
This lightsaber features a detachable collapsing blade that can be printed separately in any desired color. The hilt is designed with a screw-on cap, allowing the blade to be inserted after printing. The hilt measures 209mm long when the cap is installed but expands to over 950mm in total length once the collapsing blade is installed. This lightsaber is specifically designed for printing with a .4mm nozzle, resulting in a two-shell-thick blade. However, some users have reported issues with blobs and zits at retraction until they enabled "wipe" and "coast" settings. This may be due to the thin walls and narrow clearance between blade segments. To resolve this issue, try adjusting your coast and wipe settings to .15mm and 3mm respectively on an MK3 printer. If you're printing with translucent filament, note that seams are unavoidable, but separate blade files can be printed in vase mode at a thickness of .85mm using a .8mm nozzle from Filastruder or a .4mm nozzle set to a .85mm extrusion width. A test print file is available for those who want to ensure their printer settings are correct. If the test print fuses together, consider adjusting your coast, wipe, or extrusion multiplier settings. A new hilt design with thicker walls was added on June 1st, 2019, for users experiencing breakage issues. This revised hilt has two additional walls and requires a slicer setting of four walls when using a .4 nozzle. On June 6th, 2019, a blank template of the lightsaber in STL and STP file formats was included to enable users to create their own designs. Users are encouraged to post remixes so that others can also benefit from them. Additional collapsing sword options include: * Pirate Sword * Broadsword * Katana * Dagger * Lightsaber (Print in Place) * Sith Lightsaber (removable blade) More ideas are currently being developed and will be released soon.
