Not another 3D printer. I've been operating this one for over a year now, and I'm pleased with the results. What I wanted was a printer that was robust, accurate and repeatable, which I wasn't getting from other FDM printers I purchased without spending a fortune. That said, I've probably spent way more time and effort on it, but it's been interesting, so the time is forgotten! There are no bed adjustments with this one - all adjustment is done during assembly and everything is levelled with a DTI. Since it was built, I have never had to adjust the bed level, although it does have auto levelling in firmware just to be sure. All structural parts are made from aluminium with square linear guide rails and a large ball screw for Z. The bed is 6mm cast ali and very flat. The print area is 340mm x 200mm x 225mm. This project isn't for everyone, as there's a certain amount of engineering involved plus access to the CNC router, which is another project of mine. Maybe I'll get a chance to add this at some point. I've printed layers at 25 microns, which is fine if you can be bothered to wait! The 40mm high 3DBenchy was printed in 50 microns as can be seen from its roof, although you'll have to excuse the extra filament lines as the retract wasn't set quite right. I was a bit concerned about having the print head sat on a single rail especially as it was also feeding/pulling filament but after 12 months there is no sign of wear parallel to the rail. I could have had a tube as a guide, but it didn't need it. As soon as I get the CAD data together, I'll upload it along with BOM and diagrams.
