Hugh Piggot Axial Flux Wind Turbine. This DIY kit includes everything needed to assemble the coil former assembly for winding your own coils from scratch. Inspired by Hugh Piggot's expertise in large-scale wind turbines, I condensed his design to fit within the capabilities of a reprap machine. I have already successfully built one and am now focused on finalizing the electronic components and testing phase. For real-time updates, please check out my Instagram page @farmermacdaddy. The propeller blades used are high-quality wooden propellers sourced from Hobby King for just a fraction of the cost. The wind turbine is comprised of 36-gauge copper magnet wire, precision-cut to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability. Additionally, powerful neodymium magnets with a 1-inch diameter and 0.25-inch thickness drive this miniature powerhouse forward. To connect the rotor plates and attach the nose cone as a makeshift nut holder, a 3/8" axle bolt with strategically placed dowel holes is utilized. With every DIY enthusiast's best interest in mind, be assured that I will release an extensive step-by-step guide on creating a fully functional wind turbine through this project. For further assistance or clarification, you are invited to stay updated through regular blog postings covering all aspects of the development process.
