Summary3DP MakeBlock XYP (plotter/drawbot) full upgrade. http://www.makeblock.cc/xy-plotter-robot-kit/ I wasn't satisfied with the carriage design of the MakeBlock XY Plotter so I decided to redesign the X & Y axis carriages and take it even further. I created my own version of an XY Plotter using 3D printed parts instead of extruded aluminum blocks bolted together. Now there are just 24 (or 28) 3D printed parts combined with Makeblock parts, including: 8mm bearings/holders (6 total), 4x 8mm linear rods, 4x 18t MXL pulleys (or possibly GT2?), 10x shaft bearings, 3x 3mm OD x 40mm length rod, 1x 3mm OD x 510mm length rod, 3 drive belts provided by Makeblock, some 3/8" (9.5mm) wooden dowels and a handful of 3mm nuts and bolts. This upgrade brings the working area from 310mm × 390mm to 340mm x 400mm which I was very pleased with. Plus, with a vertical pen lift mechanism, drawing precision has increased significantly. I'm looking for silent/near silent micro-servos as the supplied servo is far from quiet. More info will be available soon.
