3DMON's DD Extruder for the E3D Hotend
thingiverse
Introducing my custom DD (Direct Drive) extruder designed for an E3D hot end, compatible with Ordbot and featuring 50mm mount holes for versatility. A Jhead hot end can also be used but has not been tested. The design files are available in .skp and .stl formats. Required components include a top-notch hobbed extruder gear (1.75mm or 3mm), 3 x 25mm, 3 x 20mm, 1 x 3 x 10mm, 1 x 5 x 10mm bolts, a 625-2RS or 625zz bearing, a 3/8" x 1-1/4" spring, and a Nema 17 stepper motor. Print the parts with .8 infill and 3 shell walls in ABS. Assembly instructions include sliding the hot end into the body, attaching the extruder gear to the stepper motor, securing the stepper to the body and cover plate, bolting the bearing to the lever, and affixing the lever and spring to the body with a 25mm bolt. An updated version of the files includes support for both squared and rounded 1.75mm and 3mm body mounts to minimize print support needs.
