Human designed a 3D illusion lamp base that was cut using a laser cutter. Check out the files and project at https://git.nexlab.net/nexlab/3dlamp/. The lamp's base design was inspired by http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1634938, and we thank ddanijell for making it available. This new version has some key differences from the original. We removed one layer to make sure it fits on 5mm plywood, fixed a size issue with the button extension holes, and added top layers that can be used with either 5 or 2mm plexy. We also reinforced the top buttons. Additionally, we converted the design files to SVG format using Inkscape and made some modifications to work with the K40 laser machine. We even added a design for 3D printed rubber feet. One major change is that the firmware has been completely rewritten from scratch and released under the GPL license. Future improvements will be made, but this new version is ready now.
