Human: Complete Tail Assembly for 3DLabPrint 1/12 Corsair. This thing replaces the original PP multi-wall sheet tail with 3D printed parts. ---------------------------------------------------- 2019.03.23: Update on Description: 1.) To give enough space for the bending of the elevator servo wire, it's necessary to remove some part of the servo wire guiding channel from the last section of the fuselage. This way, the wire has enough free part between the guiding channel and the elevator control horn for bending. 2.) I used CA hinges as elevator hinges but found them too rigid. So, I used only two on each side out of the three slots available. Even trimmed down the width of the hinges after gluing them to ensure easy and free movement of the elevators. ---------------------------------------------------- 2019.02.10: Original Description: Shape and dimensions are the same as in the original design, so it can slide inside the fuselage. The rudder and horizontal stabilizers have to be glued together before gluing it into the fuselage. Installed the tail part (Tail.stl) as a last step after the elevators were already fixed with CA hinges to the horizontal stabilizers. A 2mm carbon rod can be inserted and glued throughout the whole horizontal stabilizer, and one can also be glued into the tail part (Tail.stl), but it's not really necessary. Printed parts are probably heavier than the original parts, but feel quite strong and rigid, and look very nice. CG can be compensated by playing with the battery position if necessary. The plane was not yet in the air, so no proof of the design yet, but I have no doubt it will work. I used PLA+ for the whole plane, which is quite strong and not that brittle like original PLA, see print settings section. Due to mainly printed in vase mode, a higher than usual temperature is recommended for strong layer bonding/adhesion. Notes: - The servo rod connection arm on the right elevator can be removed/cut after printing, but necessary during printing for support and better build plate adhesion - The left and right elevator parts are connected through a 2mm carbon rod (there's a hole for that purpose on both)
