This year's FIRST LEGO League challenge is called "RePLAY" (2020-21). Our challenge was to identify a problem relating to physical activity and come up with an innovative solution. Problem: Over the last 30 years, schools have been cutting back on recess and gym class to make more time for learning. Kids are getting less and less physical activity every year. We learned that physical activity is not only good for physical and mental health but can also help students learn and remember information. One day we were talking about how school is so different during a pandemic. We’re grateful to be learning in person, but to keep us safe, we’re not changing classes this year or getting out of our desks very often. At the end of the day, we’re tired! There must be an inexpensive way to get active even while sitting at desks. Solution: That's when we came up with our 3DDP Desk Pedaler! You can 3D print the entire pedaler or you can make a hybrid model using 1" Schedule 40 PVC pipe and 3D printed pieces. All you will need from the hardware store is a few nuts, bolts, and zip ties. See the instructions sheet for more information.
