3DConnexion Spacemouse Wireless Travel Case
thingiverse
I acquired a Spacemouse wireless device, but was shocked to discover that it came with no practical way to safely transport either the mouse or USB receiver, except for the original packaging. Consequently, I designed a solution to be 3D printed, allowing users to safely carry their Spacemouse. The current model has been tailored to accommodate a 3mm pin of any kind for the hinge (I have successfully utilized a piece of wire hanger). Right now, I have it set up to work, but there are a few key areas where improvement is required. In my ongoing revision, I plan on tightening up the hinges and adding "keys" to the lid in order to simplify alignment. Upon completion, I will upload this update, though it likely won't feature text on the lid as extracting the support material printed into the letters proves incredibly challenging to do so. After reprinting this model, I aim to utilize XTC 3D or acetone vapor to create a superior finish. I've provided both STL files and Sketchup files for anyone to review and post modifications of their choice. As someone still relatively new to 3D modeling, this represents the most complex design I've produced thus far, and it is likely that others on this platform will have insights or improvements that they would like to suggest, so go ahead and share!
