Thanks to 3stigkeit for the idea behind this. Everyone loves playing around with this. I'm printing a handful of these for the holidays. This post is just my take on it, made even better with larger posts and designed for easy printing. The posts are no longer solid at the base. That requires too much extra work to support them. Instead, I've made each post separate with threaded bottoms that match the base's threaded holes. These threads use large, forgiving threads so they don't need a lot of clean-up. Now, both the posts and the base can print flat on the build plate. The threads on the posts won't last through just two layers alone, so I've added a small raft under each set of threads. This keeps everything in place while it prints. The rafts are easily cut away with an X-acto blade - even if you cut away part of the threads, it's very forgiving and still screws easily into the base. The X's print with no issues at all, needing no supports. The O's would roll away during printing if you didn't add a raft. So instead, I've created a small flat spot on the bottom of each one, so you can print without a raft and they should stay put. Bottom line - no rafts or supports are required. To print a complete set, you should start by printing "Base&Posts" first in one color. Then print the 14 X's in another color. Next, print the 13 O's in a third color. The rest of the files are extras, identical, but for printing things individually, in case you need a spare. *UPDATE*: I just realized that the O's didn't have the correct hole size. They were 8.5 instead of 9mm. I've updated all of the O's to 9mm holes like the X's. *UPDATE2*: Due to some warping at the top of the posts causing some of them to curl upward during printing, I've added two more small traces at that end to help prevent warping.
