3D Systems Cube 3 Retrofit
thingiverse
I'm currently revamping a Cube 3 printer that was donated to me, nonoperational due to someone's attempt to unlock the firmware for unconventional filament and ending up bricking the board. So far, I've managed to install an E3D v6 clone and the screen. My plan is to use a RAMPS 1.4 and a RepRap Full Graphic Controller. Down the line, I'm planning to utilize a modified Xbox 360 power supply to keep mains power contained. For me, the extruder mount is almost flawless. It has no play whatsoever, it's super sturdy. The screen components could use some fine-tuning. There's no clearance in the dovetail because I didn't want to waste filament on test prints, so I created them both at full dimension and sanded them down to get the desired fit. The mounting holes on the print don't exactly match with the holes in the screen, but it's close enough. I suspect the model I downloaded and designed around was a tad off. I had to make some significant modifications to the inside of the ScreenFront part by hand because the area around the encoder caused major interference. I believe the issue should be resolved in the file now, but I haven't reprinted it yet.
