3D Systems Cube 3 cartridge mod V2 (NOW ADJUSTABLE!)
thingiverse
Two major breakthroughs for all Cube 3 owners! Firstly: You can now fine-tune the filament grip with this upgraded extruder-box. Not every filament has exactly the same thickness as the original filament. With a simple adjustment of the screws, you can prevent clogging. Secondly: Get ready... The Cube 3 Firmware has been hacked! Some brilliant individuals (not me!) have successfully created a Toolbox to modify the original Firmware, ensuring it doesn't overwrite the DRM-chip. I was skeptical at first but I can confirm that IT WORKS! FINALLY, the Cube is free! Here's the download link with all the instructions you need: http://www.openbuilds.com/threads/cube-3-pro-hacks.8420/ Many thanks to these guys for their hard work! Additional materials used: * Festo QSM-3 (3mm to 3mm) * PTFE OD 3mm/ID 2mm * Screws M3x16mm (6Pcs) * Springs from the inside of two empty original cartridges You will also need: * Electric drill * M3 thread cutter * Screw driver-set Please print piece 2 separately and with supports. The Cube 3 cartridges are notoriously unreliable. At least mine break themselves every other time I try to print something. My biggest problem was the tube coming loose from the little CNC piece mounted on every cartridge. I think the pressure is just too high due to those sharp angles. So, I modified the tubing as well. Just cut the upper part of the original plastic piece from the extruder needle. Tube used: 1x ID2mm/OD3mm (380mm). You can change the filament by disconnecting the tube from the Festo connector, cutting the filament flush to the tube, inserting the new filament just through the cogwheel and leaving it before the Festo connector begins. Put everything back together again and make a test-print until the new filament is through.
