I've been hooked on Space Hulk since the mid 90's. That's what initially drew me into Warhammer 40k, and it sparked a desire within me to create a three-dimensional game board. This is how I got started with 3D printing in the first place. I designed my board based on one I found online, but each of its sections was crafted from scratch using my own designs. The goal was to make sure it could accommodate models from the latest edition of the game and seamlessly integrate with doorways at any time. It took me six weeks of steady printing to gather all the parts that came with the set. I once attempted to sell these designs on Kickstarter, but in hindsight, they definitely needed further refinement. The sections lack a connection mechanism, which is something I'm planning to address by making them compatible with OpenLock technology in the future. They also need an exterior texture to give them more visual interest and a sense of depth. Furthermore, the sections could benefit from additional details like grittily textured surfaces. I've recently discovered some attractive components from SevenUnited that I plan on incorporating later to make my designs more engaging.
