How many times have you needed a separated flat shadow while working on your design to make it look more realistic? How often did you want to extract a shadow from a real object but fail? Shadows are notoriously difficult to manipulate because they're not solid! Here's the solution we've created. We've developed 100% transparent shadows with Ambient occlusion added to simplify your work. Whether you're a designer, cartoon artist, visual effects artist, compositor or even a 3D artist who needs to add a shadow to their scene, these are for you and easy to use, containing everything needed to create a realistic look for your project. The images were originally rendered at 2000×2000 pixels with 16-bit depth per channel to prevent banding. They were then cropped to reduce file size and fit the content ratio. Shadows were captured from different angles – 25°, 45° and from top in multiple directions. We saved two versions of the shadow from each object: one is a Hard shadow used in sunny scenes and the other is a soft shadow used in cloudy scenes. They're excellent for use in both 2D and 3D projects, plus they're noiseless. Choose which shadow suits your design and apply it to the object. Then simply use any deformer tool like the "Transform" tool in Photoshop or the "Corner Pin" effect in After Effects, or the equivalent in any other software to deform the shadow. (Video tutorials are attached.) You can mix between hard and soft shadows as you like – this depends on the light conditions of your scene. Finally, a shadow is a shadow and will never change.
