How many times have you needed a separate flat shadow while working on your design to make it look more realistic? How many times did you want to extract a shadow from a real object, but fail to do so because shadows are notoriously difficult to manipulate - they're not solid after all! Here's the solution we've been working on. We've created 100% transparent shadows with ambient occlusion added in to make your work easier. Whether you're a designer, cartoon artist, visual effects artist, compositor or even a 3D artist, and you need to add a shadow to your scene, these shadows are for you and incredibly easy to use - they contain everything you need to create a realistic look for your project. Images were originally rendered at 2000×2000 pixels with 16-bit depth per channel to prevent banding. We then cropped them to reduce the file size and fit the content ratio. Shadows were captured from different angles at 25°, 45°, and from directly above in multiple directions. We saved two versions of each shadow - one is a hard shadow used in sunny scenes and the other is a soft shadow used in cloudy scenes. These shadows are excellent for use in both 2D and 3D projects, plus they're completely noiseless. Choose which shadow suits your design and apply it to the object. Then simply use any deformer tool like the "Transform" tool in Photoshop or the "Corner Pin" effect in After Effects - or the equivalent in any other software - to deform the shadow. (Video tutorials are attached.) You can mix between hard and soft shadows as you like, depending on the light conditions of your scene. In the end, a shadow is just that - it will never change.
