3D Scanner Magnetic Marker Pyramid
thingiverse
Got a 3D Scanner? It was probably supplied with some little retroflective marker dots to help it lock on to surfaces without many features or texture. The little dots are surprisingly expensive! I designed this to make them more reusable. Stick 5 of the marker dots to each pyramid and glue a 10mm diameter x 2mm thick Neodymium magnet in the recess on the underside - then you can place or magnetically stick these to the area you want to scan - car bodywork is what they were really intended for. The recess for the magnet is 2.5mm deep so the magnet does not protrude. If you fill the hole to the surface with epoxy, then sand it back to flat, it leaves a surface which will not damage the paintwork of the car. I've included a lip around the base to make it easy to grip & remove. I have an Einstar scanner - which is unbelievably good for the price. It also comes with about the best software of any of the lower cost (under $10k) scanners.
