This scanner utilizes Open-source FabScan software as its base, with ongoing progress in the scanning code. The 3D printing components are complete; hence, it's being shared on the website. Check out their site at http://hci.rwth-aachen.de/fabscan for more information. To enhance the FabScan model, the Z dimension is managed using a Ramps 1.4 controller that handles both plate and height steps. If you need the firmware to control height throughout the scanning process using the second N17 stepper, simply request it. The bars and threaded rods used are 5/8-inch in diameter, with N17 steppers employed. Standard 5MW lasers from China for $5 and a Logitech C920 digital camera, priced at around $40 on eBay, are utilized. For additional details and source code locations, visit www.c2scan.com.
