3D Scanned Benchy - Collection
thingiverse
This is what happens to the Benchy (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:763622) when you scan and print it repeatedly. Each new scan uses my open-source 3D Scanner: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3050437 // https://www.openscan.eu/pi-shield?lang=en with the Raspberry Pi Camera V2.1, capturing 288 photos of each print. These photos are then reconstructed in Reality Capture (Photogrammetry Software), resulting in models with 10-30 million polygons that need to be reduced to one million polygons. I'm continuing this experiment until the Benchy is no longer recognizable. Initially, I thought it would take just 10-20 iterations, but now I expect a few more. You can place your bets on when the shape will become unrecognizable - comment below! At my current rate of 1-3 iterations per day, I plan to upload at least one new model every week.
