3D Scan of a Shell
thingiverse
A few years ago, my wife and I discovered a shell on vacation, which I later 3D scanned using David3 software with a structured light setup. The shell was placed opening downwards on a turntable for rotation scanning; the bottom remained unscanned. Recently, I experimented with vapor polishing using acetone vapor and achieved good results in 8 minutes at 100°C in a glass jar (with caution). Scale and print your desired version: I printed mine at 100-micron layer height, 75mm/s, 3 layers, hollow with external supports in white ABS. For my daughter's 200-micron version, she added a creative touch with watercolors, resulting in a cool effect.
