3D Printing Nerd Spool Contest

Here is my design for the 3dpn spool contest. I aimed to keep it straightforward, with a focus on simplicity. My idea involves a section that securely holds onto the 1"x2". The slot cut out allows the brace to fit snugly onto the 1"x2" without requiring any adjustments to the spools. I wanted to maintain the spool's parallel alignment with the shelf. This design enables you to position the spool holder directly above your printer, ensuring that the filament feeds straight down and allowing for greater flexibility in terms of machine positioning - whether it's farther away or closer than if the spool holder were perpendicular to the shelf. The holder is designed to print flat for maximum strength within a single print. It requires supports, but they're minimal. I added supports under the elevated side (necessity) and under the round section (optional) for aesthetic appeal and smoothness. When loading the STL into your slicer, you'll need to perform two key adjustments: rotate the X Axis by 90 Degrees and the Y Axis by 225 Degrees. As a newcomer to printing, having only been at it for a month, I'm still figuring out axis alignment - if anyone has tips, I'd love to hear them. I hope you enjoy this simple yet effective design!
