3D printing nerd spool cometition
myminifactory
This is my entry for Joel's spool holder competition. I wanted to create a spool holder that could be 100% 3D printed, so you wouldn't have to source outside materials to build it. This spool holder can hold spools two different ways. The first way involves placing the spool on top of the shafts, with the tapered end in the back and the locking nut in the front holding the spool securely in place. The second way is to position the center hole of the spool on the front shaft and use the nut to prevent it from coming off. The spool holder should simply be clipped onto the top of the rack that Joel is using, and if placed sideways, Joel won't have to remove the spool underneath the holder. This print requires no support and should be printed with the back facing up, and the shafts pointing upward. I printed it at a 0.25 layer height with a 0.6 nozzle, and it took approximately six hours to complete. Cura estimates that printing at a 0.2 layer height with a 0.4 nozzle will take around nine hours.
