Human: Unlock the hidden potential of your 3D printer by transforming it into a beautiful 2D sketcher. With this innovative upgrade, you'll be able to create stunning artworks with precision and control using either a pen or pencil on a sheet. I hope you enjoy the artistic possibilities! Instructions What You Need: 2x M3 nut 1x M4x20 screw with flat head 1x M4 wing nut To achieve correct G-code for drawing, instead of printing 3D objects, follow these steps: 1) Select your preferred silhouette and import it into Illustrator. 2) Use Auto Tracing to edge-craft the image and export it as a DWG file. ALTERNATIVE: You can manually create contours using Autocad or your favorite vector software. 3) Import the DWG file into Solidworks, set a razor-thin thickness (< 0.2mm), and export it as an STL file. ALTERNATIVE: You can achieve this step directly within Autocad. 4) Import the STL file into Slic3r (or your preferred slicing software) and adjust these key settings: • Set a Z lift of at least 1.5mm • Choose a nozzle diameter of 0.2mm for improved accuracy • Disable top and bottom solid layers • Select a layer height equal to the nozzle diameter (0.2mm) • Set seam position to "nearest" • Opt for rectilinear infill at your preferred percentage - experiment to find the perfect balance • At the end of G-code, include a lift >2mm (G91; G1 Z3) before any movement • Maintain consistent speeds for infill and perimeters (40mm/s works well) • Disable skirts • Use low temperatures (around 40°C) to prevent issues - it's worth noting that complete extrusion removal isn't feasible, so a workaround is employed to deceive the printer. 5) Position a thick sheet or stacked latex sheets on the printing bed. Place your "draw"-specific sheet above this layer. 6) Remove filament from both the extruder and feeder before proceeding. 7) Adjust the Z zero point 0.8mm-1mm below the sheet level for optimal results - excessive height can result in uneven lines. 8) PRINT! Remember to exercise caution when using a pencil due to ink consumption over time. To troubleshoot pen-related issues, gently rub a piece of paper against the tip to rotate the ball and ensure free flow. There are two STL files available: one for hexagonal Staedler pens/pencils and another for round nibs. ENJOY THE PROCESS OF UNLOCKING NEW CREATIVITIES!
