3D Printer Spool Hub / Holder
thingiverse
Here's yet another design for a 3D printer spool hub holder. This design utilizes an 8mm threaded rod, two 0608 bearings, a couple of 8mm nuts, and two more 8mm nuts or in my case two 8mm acorn nuts for a more polished look. The two 8mm nuts are press-fit into the thumb-wheels which keep the spool hubs in place. Don't tighten the thumb-wheels too tight, otherwise the spool will not move freely. The hubs have adhesion pads to prevent arms from curling during printing and they feature a small spacer inside to support the bearing cavity. The pads snap off, and the bearing cavity support can be removed with an Xacto knife. Print Settings: Printer Brand: Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1mm Infill: 50% Notes: PLA Bed Temperature: 60C Extruder Temperature: 200C No supports or rafts are needed because they're built into the design. The 8mm nuts should press firmly into the hubs, but if they're loose, use some Crazy Glue to hold them in place. Post-Printing: The hubs feature pads to prevent arms from curling during printing and they have a small spacer inside to support the bearing cavity. The pads snap off and the bearing cavity support can be removed with an Xacto knife. The 8mm nuts should press firmly into the hubs, but if they're loose, use some Crazy Glue to hold them in place.
