See the final iteration of this assembly at Sketchfab, where I've uploaded my [WIP!] 3D printer following this link: http://is.gd/2XLAA4 NOTE: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1505842 shows the newer version (as seen in Remixes Tab) This is a WIP for a minimal Carriage for smooth rod based 3D printers, which uses three LM8UU bearings and features a two-screws mounting system for both the hotend mount at the front and the blowers system at the back. A fourth bearing has been intentionally omitted to allow adding a board for breaking wires connections, making it easy to replace the toolhead. The current design has been printed at 0.1mm on one side with the bearings holes pointing upwards. Screenshots of different types of clamps that can be designed for this setup have been added, including an Inductive probe clamp brought as close to the nozzle as possible and between the two hotends, as well as a direct contact probe design (http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?1,620626)(http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1335303). The options for customizing the clamps are endless, with only two fixed parts: the central hole for the screw and the tongue and groove style joint preventing rotating of the clamp. DesignSparkMechanical rsdoc files have been attached for both the X Carriage and the DualHotEnd_Mount, allowing users to download and play with them in CAD rather than STL surface geometry only. Update 20042016: I've taken on the challenge to re-design this X Carriage to feature a tensioning mechanism that would allow symmetrical tension adjustment of the two CoreXY belts. Check it out @ http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1505842 Update 30032016: An exploded view has been uploaded on Sketchfab at https://skfb.ly/MBrB. Update 03032016: The Dual HotEnd Mount has been added to the pictures, tailored for E3d-V6 dimensions (http://files.e3d-online.com/v6/Drawings/V6-175-SINK.pdf). If you're interested in getting the Inductive Probe Clamp or DirectContact Probe design, please let me know. Print Settings Printer Brand: Solidoodle Printer: Solidoodle 2 - Base Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 Infill: 25% Notes: The printing of GT2 belt teeth is quite demanding on the calibration and precision of the printer, but the many teeth clamped by the carriage internal teeth and the "give" of the GT2 belt are quite permissive.
