3D Printer LED light bar adapters
thingiverse
I purchased a set of three LED light bars from Amazon, which I wanted to attach to my CR-10s printer. After adding front braces to the printer, I sought something to complement them that could possibly attach to the round braces. Unfortunately, magnets wouldn't work because the aluminum braces and plastic top "bars" made it impossible. Since these LEDs were approximately one foot long (30cm) but very lightweight, I figured out a design for adapters to allow me to attach them to the printer frame without any hassle. The kit included pressure clips that could be screwed into cabinets for mounting below. I decided to use these clips as my mounting solution, although they wouldn't require screwing anywhere. I wanted two of the LED's mounted to the front braces respectively and the third overhead on top in front of the "Z" top bar. So, I created clip strips that allowed me to place a clip firmly inside them and then zip tie them to the round braces. This simple and easy mounting solution worked perfectly. The top brace clip adapter was designed to fit over the left and right brace arm mounts at the top of the printer. A clip simply slides into the provided slot, and an LED is fitted between the two at the top of the printer. Mounting couldn't be simpler. Next, I thought about creating a clip-on mount for the front top of the printer that could quickly be clipped on and hold a light bar with two clips. Then I came up with several ways to use it, such as on top or on the bottom (I was thinking of using it behind, on top, or below a camera for time-lapse). Finally, I designed a quick clip with a swivel ball mount that could simply attach one end of an LED light bar and allow it to be angled and turned to suit at the front of the printer side rails without the braces. This would hold one end of one of the lights and enable me to have all three if desired. I don't think this is really a remix, but I did use files from other things such as mounting tabs from GoPro mounts, and I got the idea for the swivel ball and cup from the CL270 mount. However, my version is enlarged by 30% and used quite differently.
