I created this lamp to be mounted on top of my printer to light up my build plate. I designed this lamp to be light and to be a “set and forget”.

It is made up of four elements :

the base, to put on a 20*20 aluminium extrusion. I used 2 * M3 screws and T nuts to secure it on both sides of the extrusion. The holes for the screws are recessed so I suggest you use short screws.

the lamp, on which you can put strips of leds.

the link, to link the lamp and the base. You can use multiple of these. I used 3.

A screw and a nut, I only used it to attach the last link with the lamp.

The link can be printed as presented without any tweeks. For the base, you can print it with the “V3” standing right side up and use support for the legs and the holes for the screws. For the base you can print it with the “lighting” face on your build plate and use support for the mounting legs. I printed every part with a 15% infill.

Regarding dimensions, you'll find a screenshot of my original drawing for the link, the link is 10mm in width and the legs for the lamp and base are 5mm thick.

Since I wanted it to be as light as possible, I tried using the 3D printed srew and nut but it just would not hold enough weight without breaking. So I used 8 mm by 30mm metal screws and loking nuts to hold the links together, as for the lamp, as said earlier i still used the 3D printed screw to be able to rotate the lamp.

As for the wiring, I included a small hole in the upper left corner of the lamp. I used 22 awd wires for this so it could be a little too small depending on what you have. I wired my strips by hand. I chose to use 24V white LED's (they are really bright so i suggest you use some king of dimmer like these : https://tinyurl.com/3sj26at4) and I wired it directly to my printer's power supply (which is 24V).

Main source of inspiration for this project :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKq9psMT-do&t=233s&ab_channel=Heliox
